I'M TRACY

Tracy has bachelor’s and master’s degrees in writing and communication, and a vast array of professional roles including consultant, program developer, speaker, trainer, spokesperson, coach and published author to draw upon in serving her clients. She has been writing and editing for more than 30 years in a variety of formats from journal, newspaper and magazine articles to blogs, speeches and resource guides.

More important than her background and experience, however, is the way she interacts with people. As a speaker, coach, mentor and guide she connects on a deep level and intuitively knows what is needed in each moment. She doesn’t just see the project at hand, but the person behind it and believes that both should benefit from the coaching relationship. She knows the healing power of writing and telling your story because she has done it herself for many years.

What is unique about Tracy is her ability to both challenge and support each client to believe in themselves and produce their best work. With her, the process is as important as the product and she will inspire you to let your ideas blossom while also holding you accountable to doing what you say you will do. She will keep you motivated and on track, and you may be surprised at the personal benefits you are receiving as the process unfolds.

Tracy will help you get clear, get ready and get writing!

About me

I chose journalism as my college major because I was a good writer, not because I wanted to be a reporter. (I quickly learned that I didn’t want to chase stories on the daily with a deadline breathing down my neck.) I also knew I wanted to write about what I wanted to write about and not what some editor assigned me.

That meant I filled countless journals with my personal musings and published dozens of articles in various newsletters, magazines and trade publications on topics that interested me. I even won a few awards. I told people for years that I wanted to write a book, but it wasn’t until I was diagnosed with ovarian cancer in my 30’s that I finally knew what I would write about.

On my one-year “cancerversary,” a friend asked me to blog about being single with cancer for a new lifestyle platform that she served as an editor. Four years later, I attended a conference session titled, How to Bring Your Book to Life this year, and decided I would. Five women gathered monthly to support each other in writing our books, and within four months I had a book deal!

Listening to others talk about their process is not the best way to learn how to write. It's best to just have a trained professional review your work as you go, hold you accountable, and offer you emotional support for the journey gives writers the best chance of writing something that impacts the reader. It is not straightforward, and it is not scalable and it is, therefore, not cheap – but it’s the best way to get the help you need.
